Fall

It's Fall, yet this past weekend I've been making Christmas cards. I've already sent out tons of Halloween cards as well. It's amazing how fast the year is going.

Got the color inspiration from a card I saw on Pinterest. I used a SSS background stamp and heat embossed it in gold embossing powder from Hero Arts.

State of Funk

It's been a while since my last post and honestly it's because I've been in a state of funk lately. Work has not been challenging and life has been somewhat boring. I've done nothing but work, eat, sleep, and repeat, however I have been trying to do some crafts to try and get out of this funk, which I will share below. I'm ready for Austin to start school and for the seasons to change. I love FALL in Michigan. It's time for apple cider, donuts, leaves to change colors, temperatures to drop, pumpkin patches, and Halloween!

Below are ceramic coasters I made for Halloween using Cricut infusible ink. The ink seeps into the material so it's smooth to the touch unlike vinyl would be. It was very simple to do and so satisfying to complete a project. I've been making some leather earrings and working on a diamond painting as well. I will share more in the upcoming weeks. Thanks for stopping by.

Mother's Day

Mother's Day has come and gone already. It's usually a day I somewhat dread since my mom went to heaven. It's just not the same. I regret all the missed Mother's Days I wasn't able to spend with my mom since I was in Michigan. I miss giving her hugs and the smell of her perfume. I miss getting her texts and sending her pictures of Austin growing up. She worked hard and loved her husband and children very much. She was one of the most generous people I've ever known. She always wanted me to be a "girly girl" so she tried dressing me up and doing my hair and makeup. The time you spend with your loved ones is precious. I try to soak in the time I have with my family as much as possible these days because you never know when you may not be able to see them again.

I think I'm about 1 year old here

It was nice to spend some time with my husband and son on Mother's Day. We didn't do anything super special, but it's always nice to have quiet time. I was able to play with my new Cricut Maker machine, we went to get some ice cream and some of my favorite Italian bread sticks, and we watched some TV and spent time with each other.

I made this for Austin's bedroom door with my Cricut and some vinyl.
His room is "Gamer" themed now so I thought it was fitting.

I don't often get any cuddles now that he's 11 years old.

Any way, I hope that all of you were able to spend some time with loved ones this past weekend. Cherish the moments that you have together as much as possible.

Comfort Zone

My family has been working on getting me to push myself out of my comfort zone for a while now. I am what one would call an introvert, and it has gotten worse over the last several years. I work from home and would rather stay at home with family. I would like to do certain things, but my "anxiety" keeps me from doing those things, but I am going to work on changing that. This blog is one of the many things I have been thinking about doing for a very long time. Other things include sewing lessons, making a YouTube channel for crafts that I make, selling my crafts, joining card making crops, making new friends, losing weight, being more active, and the list goes on. I'm hoping by blogging my life that it will help me realize how much I am missing by letting my thoughts get the best of me.

This blog will consist of the crafts that I end up making, stuff about my daily life, probably stories about my son, hopefully my adventures in overcoming my anxieties, and other miscellaneous topics.  I'm not in this for the number of followers or anything, just a way to express myself through writing instead of through actually speaking with someone face-to-face. LOL. I laugh, but it's really an issue I struggle with on a day to day basis.

If you are reading this I hope you will enjoy my posts and actually gain something from them.

Sympathy Card

This weekend I created a sympathy card with inspiration from a YouTube channel I watch by Kristina Werner. She's a fantastic artist, designer, and card maker.

Kristina recently posted a Distress color blend series on her channel. This color blend came from one of her posts and I thought it would work great for the sympathy card. Sometimes I have trouble knowing what colors would blend together nicely other than the obvious choices.

I used blending brushes in the picture above with Distress Oxide inks: Faded Jeans, Weathered Wood, and Pumice Stone. The card features the Magnolia Waffle Flower stamp set and the envelope features the Pleasing Envelopes stamp set from PaperTrey Ink. I embossed the Magnolia flowers in white embossing ink and then blended over a white card base with the Distress Oxide inks. I also added an Avery Elle With Sympathy die cut sentiment with a few layers of card stock and some Dew Drops from Studio Katia. Hopefully my photographs will get better as time passes as well as the content.

Again, thank you for reading and hope you enjoyed!

Sincerely,
Missy Verhey
